The Cercle des Canadiens Français was founded in 1960 by a group of Francophones who met regularly in order to promote the French language, its culture and the French-Canadian heritage.

Gradually, rooms were rented in 1976 from Studio Art 2880 for its activities, and in 1987, the association purchased the building of the English school board that is still today the Francophone community center, located near Fort George Park. In 1977, the first preschool opened its doors, Le Coin des Petits. Today, there is a French immersion program and a program offered to families.
